Dear business owner,

I am pleased to let you know that applications to the Additional Restrictions Grant will open today.

This discretionary grant is for Islington businesses who are not eligible for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) schemes and freelancers not eligible for the HMRC Self-Employment Income Support Scheme.

Please read through the criteria listed below, and if you think your business may be eligible I encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Additional Restrictions Grant


Eligibility

To be eligible for the Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) scheme, applicants:

  • must be either a registered business, registered charity with a trading entity/activity or registered as self-employed and resident in Islington
  • must have trading activities which have been significantly impacted by restrictions on socialising and national lockdown.
  • must have a physical trading address in Islington at the start of national lockdown on the 4 November 2020 (i.e. an operating or trading address in Islington from which the bulk of business’s activities take place, or a residential address in Islington if you are self-employed and work from home).

Exclusions

This grant will not be paid to the following:

  • Businesses who are eligible for the LRSG Closed scheme addendum, or sector scheme
  • Businesses who were not trading on or before 4 November 2020
  • Businesses who have exceeded the state aid limit
  • Businesses who have received COVID 19 Arts Council Funding, National Lottery funding, or Islington Council grants in the last 12 months (businesses who received the Small Business Grant Fund, Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund and Discretionary Grant Fund are still eligible for this scheme)
  • Businesses who only have a virtual office or PO box in Islington
  • Those who are receiving HMRC self-employment support

How much you will receive

The grant is based on the number of people your business employs and will be a one-off payment:

Number of employees  Grant value
0 or 1 employee (self-employed/freelancers/sole traders) £1,300
2-9 (micro) £2,000
10-49 (small)  £3,000

 


Application timeline

Applications will close on Wednesday 16 of December 2020.

Grants will be allocated on a first come first served basis.


Information required to complete your application

Before making your online application, please make sure you have the following ready to upload:

Micro or small businesses and charities

  1. Certificate of company incorporation or charity registration
  2. Payroll evidence showing number of employees (e.g. most recent payroll run or employee pay slips (all GDPR restricted data must be redacted)
  3. Bank account statement: 1x September 2020 1x October 2020 evidencing trading activities
  4. Evidence of trading in Islington such as your lease agreement, license to occupy your trading address or business rates bill.

Sole traders and self-employed

  1. Confirmation of self-employed status from HMRC
  2. Bank statements covering November 2019 and an additional statement covering October 2020 (showing name, address, account, balance and transactions, the bank statement must evidence trading activities from 2019 and that the individual is not receiving self-employment support)
  3. Evidence of trading in Islington such your lease agreement, license to occupy your trading address or a business rates bill. If you work from home, please provide proof of residence in Islington.

We aim to assess applications within 15 working days, but the process may take longer.
