Secondary school applications
Apply online now for a secondary school place in September 2021
Welcome to the first in a series of e-newsletters giving you information about Islington's secondary schools and some hints and tips to help you with the application process.
Islington secondary schools provide high quality learning through a rounded curriculum for children of all abilities. Islington, along with the rest of London, is leading the country in terms of positive outcomes for many pupils in our schools. 98% of Islington Y11 leavers moved into education, employment or training with most remaining in learning.
If your child was born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010 you need to apply for a secondary school place. Online applications are now open and you have until Saturday 31 October to apply, although it is recommended that you submit your forms by Friday 23 October, in case there are any issues.
Offer day is Monday 1 March 2021, when you will find out which school you have been successful for. Good luck!

How to apply
Applying online is quick and simple. You can list up to six schools on your application, so it's important you do some research first. List your schools in order of preference and try to include one school that is near to where you live.

Choosing the right school
There are 10 secondary schools in Islington, so it’s important to take the time to find the one that is best for your child. All our schools will be holding open days or evenings, so be sure to check the calendar in our brochure.

Extra support
Free school meals are available to some secondary pupils. Your child may be eligible if you receive certain benefits. There is also a uniform grant available to help with the cost of uniforms when your child transfers to secondary school.
