Help keep Islington clean and safe
“I have been a Park Ranger for 16 years. I love all aspects of my job, especially working with the public. Due to coronavirus, we have seen more people using our parks and so to help Islington to be the best it can be, when you visit our wonderful green spaces please leave it as you want to find it by taking your rubbish home.” - Fiona, Park Ranger.
Over summer, there were more people enjoying Islington’s green spaces for exercise and socially distanced meet-ups with friends and family. Unfortunately, we also saw a surge in littering across the borough, and noise complaints hit record levels.
Help us keep Islington clean and safe. Do your bit and bin your rubbish, report overflowing bins, or people behaving irresponsibly in our parks by visiting the council’s website.

Litter heroes unite!
Many of us are using the parks and green spaces more than ever, and now that things are getting moving again, it’s time to get cleaning! The Great Islington September Clean will run from 11 to 27 September and support environmental charity, Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British September Clean. Up to half a million people will be taking action to clean up streets and parks across the country, but not in the usual way - this time we’re all being asked to take part as a family or in small groups of up to six people. Get involved now - give as little as 15 minutes and pledge your own clean-up.

Reasons to shop local
Local independent businesses are one of the reasons Islington is such a great place to live. As well as enriching our high streets and town centres they also create jobs for local people, boost our local economy, are at the forefront of innovation, and are often more environmentally friendly. Additionally, shopping locally means you can walk or cycle to the shops, if possible, which cuts down on fuel consumption and air pollution.
