Online applications now open

Welcome to the first in a series of e-newsletters giving you information about Islington's primary schools and some hints and tips to help you with the application process.

Islington schools provide high quality learning. Our primary school pupils' achievements are now ranked in the top 20% in England in reading, writing and maths, with 69% reaching the expected standard – a full 4% above the national average

Online applications are now open and you have until Wednesday 15 January 2020 to apply, although it is recommended that you submit your forms by Friday 10 January 2020, in case there are any issues.

Offer day is Thursday 16 April 2020, when you will find out which school you have been successful for. Good luck!

How to apply

Applying online is the best and easiest way. You can list up to six schools on your application, so it's important you do some research first. List your schools in order of preference and include ones that are near to where you live.

You must apply

Remember to apply even if your child attends the nursery of your preferred school. There is no automatic entry to reception from nursery.

Top tips

Apply on time!

Only 40% of applicants who applied late were offered one of their preferred schools compared to 97% of on time applicants.

Make it personal

Think about what is right for your child – don’t rely on what others tell you, visit the school and experience it first-hand.

Do your research

Visit schools – this is the best way to get a ‘feel’ for the school. You can meet a member of the leadership team, ask questions and see the school in action
