Council urges businesses to help make borough safer for women at night

Islington Council has committed to encourage local businesses and organisations to do more to help make Islington safer at night for women. London's Night Czar, Amy Lamé, is “delighted” the council has signed the Mayor of London’s Night Safety Charter.

The pledge comes following a motion at the Full Council meeting on Thursday (26 September) backing the charter, which aims to make London a city where all women feel confident and welcome at night, with guidance for businesses, charities and councils for better staff training and encouraging reporting of harassment.

Last chance to have your say on Islington's ward boundary changes

Due to population increase, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England has recommended that Islington should have 51 councillors, instead of 48. Those councillors would represent 17 three-councillor wards across the borough. This means a new pattern of wards, and your views are being sought on whether these ward boundaries and the proposed names of the wards are right.

You have until Monday 7 October 2019 to have your say.
