This Sunday – join in Car Free Day!

Car Free Day, celebrated globally on Sunday 22 September, allows people to reimagine their city free from cars and reclaim their streets while walking, cycling and exploring the place they live.

This year’s Car Free Day at St John Street will be Islington's biggest celebration yet, as we create our largest ever car-free space. The fun starts at 11am, and includes pottery-making, theatre, sports, cycling training sessions, face-painting, story-telling, guided walks, and much more! We hope you can make it. Further details are below.

Making walking and cycling safer, easier, and more pleasant are central aims of the draft Islington Transport Strategy that has been set out as the vision for transport in the borough for the next two decades. Have your say before 29 September.

Sale of fur banned at Islington markets

Islington is the first London council to ensure that no products with real fur will be sold at council markets. Although it isn’t thought that any traders at council markets currently sell fur, the ban will outlaw any future sales.

The move is intended to help tackle a cruel and awful trade, and has been welcomed by the Humane Society International UK.

Return your household enquiry form

Every home in Islington has been sent a form as part of the annual electoral canvass. The responses help us ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote in the borough can do so in future elections.

The quickest way to complete the form is online – this also saves the council money! You can check what details we currently hold for your address, and provide new details if relevant. Adding new names to this form will not register people automatically, but will enable us to send an individual voter registration form to each person in your household who needs to register to vote.
