COVID 19: AN UPDATE TO AIS
Last week we informed you that we were reviewing our processes following the closure of our office.
The major impact of the closure is that we are unable to print and send out DRO notifications to debtors and some creditors.
NOTIFICATIONS TO DEBTORS:
From today we will send the notification of a DRO to the debtor by e-mail. If a debtor does not have access to e-mail we will work with you to identify how we can provide them with notice of the DRO.
From today please ensure an e-mail address for the debtor, where we can send the DRO, is provided in the application.
If this is not possible please e-mail DROpreorder@insolvency.gov.uk before submitting the application and someone from the DRO team will contact you.
NOTIFICATIONS TO CREDITORS:
Around 80% of creditors receive notification of a DRO by e-mail. E-mail addresses for these creditors should be selected from the drop down when completing the application.
If you are aware of a contact e-mail for a specific creditor who does not have an e-mail in the drop down then you can add this as the first line of the address for that creditor – please note it is important to use the drop down e-mail for a creditor where there is one as this is linked to our automated system for notifying creditors.
Creditors who cannot be notified by e-mail will not receive notification of DROs when they are made. Notifications will be sent to these creditors when we are able to send them by post.
This will mean some creditors will not be aware of a DRO and may contact the debtor. Where this happens debtors have been told:
If you are contacted by any of your creditors, please email them a copy of the DRO.
If you are unable to do this, please:
APPLICATIONS ALREADY RECEIVED:
Over the next few days we will start processing applications received since our office closed. Where there is no e-mail address for the debtor in the application we will contact the AI.
DECLINES:
In the small number of cases where we decline to make a DRO we will inform the debtor by e-mail.
We understand that these arrangements are not ideal but they will allow us to continue to make and administer DROs while we are unable to print and despatch documents.
