2017 Hull Tell the World
Hull 2017 bid delivery

Towards 2017 – Hull gets on with it!

Welcome to our first eNewsletter of 2014. With just 35 months to go, Hull’s journey towards 2017 is already well underway and we hope you’ll find this monthly eNewsletter a useful way of keeping up-to-date with developments.

In December, we said that the journey was ‘a marathon, not a sprint’ and that our first priority was to put in place the partnerships and structures needed to deliver a successful year of culture in 2017. Here’s a snapshot of what’s happened so far…

We are developing our relationships with potential partners for 2017 both nationally and regionally. Arts Council England, British Council and national skills agency CC Skills will all visit Hull in the next two months. Regionally we are in discussions with the likes of health trusts, tourism partners and the University of Hull. We have identified over 60 potential partners so this will take time.

We are in the early stages of discussions with major broadcasters who are interested in developing programmes and hosting events in Hull in the build up to and during 2017. We have already hosted initial visits from BBC North and producers in radio, TV and BBC events. We are working towards a potential BBC Insights Roadshow in Hull in the late spring to build capacity in the cultural sector and develop the programming potential of Hull 2017. Full story.
