The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has today published its GDA Entry Guidance and opened the Generic Design Assessment to Advanced Nuclear Technologies.
The new Entry Guidance reflects the work that the nuclear regulators have completed to modernise GDA.
We updated our joint GDA guidance in preparation for this last year, and wait to be invited by government to start regulatory activity.
We are currently assessing one new nuclear reactor design, the UK HPR1000.
The UK HPR1000 comments process is open throughout the GDA, until about four months before the end of the assessment.
General Nuclear System Ltd (GNSL) will continue to publish detailed design information on its website and update it as new information becomes available. Anyone can view that information and comment on it.
GNSL is required to respond to questions and comments about their design. We are able to see both the question and the response, so that we can consider them in our assessments.
