2017 / 2018
Health and Safety Executive statistics show that each year, over a million workers are injured or made ill by their work in Great Britain. This can have serious effects on these individuals and their families, as well as employers, government and wider society.
The latest statistics for GB for the period 2017 - 2018 :
- 1.4 million working people suffering from a work-related illness
- 144 workers killed at work
- 71,062 injuries to employees reported under RIDDOR.

The Breathe Freely welding fume control selector tool was launched on 21 November 2018. This web-tool is designed to complement the information on the Breathe Freely in Manufacturing webpages. It provides guidance on welding fume control for common welding tasks. A panel of experts from industry, consultancies, academia and the HSE created this web-tool to inform managers, welders, and supervisors of welders, about the best welding fume controls available to protect their health.
