The Health and Wellbeing team are here to help you get on track with free courses, health talks and sessions to help you improve your health.

One to one support

Our team of friendly advisors are still on hand to offer tailored one-to-one support to help you achieve your health and wellbeing goals. We can offer this support over the phone or in person at our Wellbeing Centre in Horsham, our Hub at Steyning Leisure Centre or we can come to a community venue near you.

We have spaces left on our next Weight off Workshops! 

Begin the course with two private one-on-one coaching sessions (taking place in December and early January) which will cover introductions, expectations, barriers and triggers and then join the 10 weekly group workshops that cover topics such as healthy eating, emotional eating, exercise, stress and sleep.

Emotional Eating & Unhelpful Behaviours workshop

Brand new for 2022, our Emotional Eating and Unhealthy Behaviours workshop focusses on  identifying the reasons for emotional eating, triggers and barriers, and what steps you can put in place to overcome these challenges. It can also be applied to any unhealthy behaviour patterns such as excessive drinking or smoking. 

Monday 31 January 9:30 – 11:30am

If you're ready for change and want to learn simple steps and tools for managing emotional eating, this session could be for you.

Please note: This workshop is not intended to be a substitute for medical advice. If you suffer from an eating disorder or a mental health issue that affects your eating habits, this workshop may not be appropriate for you and you should contact your GP for advice.

Pre-diabetes session

Places are available on our next pre-diabetes session. We will support you to set small, manageable goals to improve your health and wellbeing and help you take more control of reducing your risk of diabetes.

High Cholesterol Group Talk

Are you worried about your cholesterol?  

Has your GP recently given you test results and said you have high or raised cholesterol levels?

Our friendly and informal group talk aims to give you the knowledge and guidance to show how a few small steps can improve your cholesterol levels and your overall general health.

Please note: Our advisors can provide helpful tips and advice on lowering your cholesterol but they are not medically trained and can't answer questions on any medications you may be taking. If you have any medical questions you should seek advice from your GP.

If you're looking to get active we have new FREE courses in January for you to choose from!

From learning to run to dancing your way to fitness, we've got something for everyone to lead a healthier lifestyle in the New Year.

Learn To Run

If you want to do more than just walking, why not try our Learn To Run course next year? A 10-session beginner's course that aims to encourage and give participants the confidence to start to run.

The sessions are a mixture of walking/brisk walking and jogging.There are no expectations about where you should be at by the end of the course as everyone is different and progresses at different rates. Our aim is to create a friendly and supportive environment to get you moving at your own pace, whether that's walking, jogging or a mixture of the two, and more importantly we want you to enjoy yourself!

Legs Bums Tums

This is a ten session course for beginners aiming to support and guide individuals through their first steps to getting active or getting back into activity. Each session will involve an aerobic section (aimed at getting your heart rate up) as well as a strength and toning section. 

Sessions will be led by a qualified instructor who can tailor all exercise to suit your needs. She will contact you before the course starts to find out more about you and let you know what to expect.

Thursday 13 January 9.30am at The Drill Hall, Horsham.

65+

65+ Back to Exercise Course

New for January 2022, a 10 week course for the over 65's.

A fun and friendly aerobic and strength class with the older body in mind. It’s a workout routine that has the power to help prevent injury and illness, keep you independent, alleviate stress and get you feeling strong and healthy.

Pulborough

Strong and Steady in Pulborough

You can still join our Strong & Steady course in Pulborough. 

Over a series of sessions comprising low-impact exercises, this course aims to keep you feeling strong and steady on your feet with the added bonus of meeting like-minded people so you get to enjoy the social side of things too.

If you or someone you know would benefit from improving their strength, balance and confidence in a friendly and supportive environment then get in touch.

The Drink Free Days app is aimed at people who like a drink but want some support in tracking and cutting down on the booze. 

You can pledge and nominate a specific number of drink free days each week and get practical, daily support to help you stick to it and be more successful in reaching your goals.

Cancer champion

Become a Cancer Champion!

Are you a cancer patient or a carer for someone who had/has a cancer? Or are you a member of the public interested in improving cancer services in Surrey and Sussex?

The Public Engagement Team have various opportunities where you can get involved and join their Cancer Champions.

Community Fridge

The Horsham Community Fridge offer excess food from local businesses, supermarkets and allotments, that would otherwise be wasted, and is available to everyone in the Community. Come along and choose five items to save it going to landfill!
