Getting ready for the cold season
After a Summer filled with long walks, gardening and socialising outdoors, it can feel like a challenge to stay healthy in winter.
But during the colder months, when our bodies are more susceptible to sickness, it’s more important than ever that we protect our health and wellbeing.
The good news is, there are things you can do to keep healthy, even when it’s wet and windy, from kicking bad habits or signing up to one of our courses. It doesn’t have to be a major change, but the benefits can start immediately.

This is your chance to start making healthier choices with the help of our Weight off Workshops!
Start off with two private one-on-one coaching sessions (taking place in November and December) which will cover introductions, expectations, barriers and triggers and then join the 10 weekly group workshops that cover topics such as healthy eating, emotional eating, exercise, stress and sleep.

Strong and Steady
We are now booking people in for assessments for the next courses at The Bridge (Broadbridge Heath) and Pulborough. The sessions comprise of low-impact exercises to improve strength, balance and mobility aiming to keep you feeling strong and steady on your feet. Suitable for those aged 65+.

Pre-diabetes session
Our pre-diabetes programme aims to help you prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes by reducing the risks and allowing people to take more control. The session helps people set small, manageable goals to improve their health and wellbeing. Diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors are the main focus.

Alcohol Awareness Week
Run by Alcohol Change UK, Alcohol Awareness Week is a chance to get people thinking about drinking. It’s a week of awareness-raising and campaigning for change. This year the theme of the campaign is, 'Alcohol and Relationships'.
Come and visit us at the Wellbeing Centre in the week to see what we are doing for the campaign!

If you feel you're struggling with alcohol and want support and information to help you cut down, our Alcohol wellbeing advisor can provide free and confidential advice at a time to suit you.

Run by the Movember Foundation, Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's suicide.
This year you can also raise awareness by taking part in 'Take the Move', a 30-day physical fitness challenge. Men's health and wellbeing is just as important as ever so it's important we all take action to live healthier, happier and longer lives.
NHS Living Well
Are you living with a long-term physical or mental health condition?
The online ‘Living Well’ course could help you.
Peer-led group courses give you the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques to better manage your condition including topics such as; communication skills, healthy eating, physical activity, medication management and working with your nhs healthcare team.

What's going on at our Wellbeing Centre?
Employment Support Team
The employment support team help individuals looking to get back into work by developing existing skills, finding suitable work placements, training or volunteering opportunities. They also provide support to identify and address barriers which may be preventing people from entering employment.
Come and have a chat with them at our Wellbeing Centre on Wednesday 3 November, 11am - 3pm.

Horsham Matters
Horsham Matters is a charity that aims to relieve hardship through the provision of essential services (food, fuel and shelter) in order to make a positive, long-lasting impact on people's lives. Their new mobile hub will also be supporting isolated communities across Horsham District with Foodbank sessions and a range of services providing clients with the tools they need to progress towards financial stability.

Neighbourhood Wardens
Based within the community, our neighbourhood wardens work alongside partner agencies to improve the quality of life for everyone and promote community cohesion and resilience. The wardens undertake a number of activities, including enforcement to community development.

Community Link Team
Helping residents feel safe and independent in the Horsham District. They provide technology-enabled care (often known as telecare or telehealth) devices and a 'Checking on You' telephone service.

Community Fridge
The Horsham Community Fridge offer excess food from local businesses, supermarkets and allotments, that would otherwise be wasted, and is available to everyone in the Community. Come along and choose five items to save it going to landfill!
