New initiative to help keep the District COVID-safe during the festive period
The Council is embarking on a new COVID-safe initiative targeted at both local businesses and residents. The scheme aims to help businesses trade safely and reassure residents that it is safe to go out and about in our District in the run up to Christmas.
The Council’s Community Safety Wardens and Environmental Health Officers will be visiting town centres and villages over the coming weeks to reinforce the Prime Minister’s message to remain cautious over the festive season.
Celebrating National Tree Week
To celebrate National Tree Week, we asked our arboricultural specialists for some facts about our District's most spectacular trees.
The yew tree pictured is in St Giles churchyard, Coldwaltham and is thought to be over 1,000 years old - one of the 12 oldest trees in England. We also shared a photo on Facebook of a Sun Oak that stands tall in the St Leonard's Forest area of Horsham.
Elsewhere, our parks and countryside team have been introducing soft landscaping to finish off the Bridge Leisure Centre redevelopment. The team have planted Hawthorns and Birch trees to enhance the area.

As part of Road Safety Week, the Council’s Neighbourhood Warden teams engaged with members of the public to give advice and share safety tips.
The teams spoke with drivers about anti-social driving, parents about parking safely around schools, cyclists about staying visible and no cycling areas and supported local speed watch groups.
