Join the "Tea at 2" campaign

Horsham District Council wants to work with local cafes and restaurants to launch a new campaign, "Tea at 2", to encourage visitors into towns and villages in the afternoons when it is generally quieter. The campaign will launch on Wednesday 29 July 2020.

All participating cafes will receive a poster to advertise their participation as well as a Tea at 2 window sticker to display.

We will be rolling out the campaign across all the Council's Discover Horsham District social media platforms, as well as partners including Experience West Sussex, South Downs National Park and others. All publicity is free for participating businesses.

We are hoping that cafes and restaurants will be willing to offer a range of attractive tea time promotions from two o’clock each day, starting from 1 August through to 31 August.

Please email business.development@horsham.gov.uk with details of your promotion ideas and your contact details.

Eat Out to Help Out

Register for the Eat Out to Help Out scheme

Has your business signed up to the Government's new scheme: Eat Out to Help Out?

The new scheme aims to incentivise customers to eat in your restaurant or other eating establishment by giving them a government-funded discount.

Customers can get 50% off food and non-alcoholic drinks Monday-Wednesday in August at participating eateries. Businesses can claim back the discount cost from the government.

The scheme looks to drum up custom on quieter days of the week and means you can build your business back up.

More traffic free areas for Horsham town centre to help boost economy

Plans are being put in place to boost business for local traders and create an improved and safe post lockdown experience for customers in Horsham Town Centre.

The Council is planning to improve trading conditions for restaurants and cafes in the East Street and Market Square areas of the town centre by extending daytime traffic restrictions until the evenings, enabling them to have socially distanced tables and chairs outside their premises for longer.

Wear a face covering when you go to the shops

Face coverings

From 24 July 2020, customers must by law wear a face covering in shops and supermarkets. The Government have stated that shops and supermarkets will be expected to encourage compliance with the law (as they would do more generally) and can refuse entry.

The liability for wearing a face covering lies with the individual.

Exemptions to wearing a face covering

In settings where face coverings are mandated in England, there are some circumstances, for health, age or equality reasons, whereby people are not expected to wear face coverings in these settings. Please be mindful and respectful of such circumstances noting that some people are less able to wear face coverings.
