Recycling and waste
Household waste collection services
All our waste collection services are currently operating as normal.
Household Waste Recycling Sites
West Sussex County Council-run Household Waste and Recycling Sites remain closed until further notice, following Government guidance.

Thank you for recycling as much as possible
A massive thank you for continuing to recycle as much as you can during these challenging times and for your continued support of our collection crews.
In fact, recycling has improved - the tonnage for January, February and March 2020 was recorded as significantly higher compared to the same period last year.
The quality of recycling has also improved, with zero loads being rejected for poor quality in March. That means everything that residents have put in their recycling bins has been great quality and will be processed into new things. Keep up the amazing work.

Fly-tipping
There is no excuse for fly-tipping. We all have a duty of care to do the right thing with our waste in order to avoid blighting our beautiful district and its countryside. Our teams are continuing enforcement work despite the current situation and will do all we can to catch those responsible for fly-tipping.
- If you see someone fly tipping, do not stop them yourself. Try and take a photograph instead, note down some details and report it to us online.
- Please do not overfill public litter bins
- Please also consider if a DIY project is crucial at this time and make sure you are able to either store waste or dispose of it appropriately. If you are using a tradesperson please check they are a licenced carrier of waste.
- Alternatively, you can purchase a bulky bag (subject to availability) for a convenient and responsible way to remove waste.
Large item collection crews still collecting
Some residents were surprised to hear that our large item collection crews are still working, collecting beds, mattresses, sofas, fridges and other big household items from residents across the District. If you have any large household items that you need to dispose of, it’s easy to book a collection with us.

Community safety
Support for victims of domestic abuse
Domestic abuse can often get worse during times of stress and uncertainty. If you are in an abusive relationship and need help, there are a range of services nationally and in Horsham District that support victims of domestic abuse.

Job Retention Scheme
All UK employers will be able to access support to continue paying part of their employees' salary for those employees that would otherwise have been laid off during this crisis. HMRC will reimburse 80% of affected employees' wage costs, up to a cap of £2,500 per month.
