Mental health

April is Stress Awareness Month

Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992 to increase awareness about the causes and cures for stress.

Stress is one of the public health challenges of our time, but it still isn’t taken as seriously as physical health concerns. Stress is a significant factor in mental health problems including anxiety and depression. It is also linked to physical health problems like heart disease, insomnia and our immune systems.

Visit our website for information about how you can look after, and improve, your mental wellbeing, as well as links to various organisations and services to help you in you need support.

Health Rides programme extended for 2019

Local volunteer ride leaders supported by Horsham District Council’s sports development team are following up last year’s pilot programme of health rides with an extended offer in 2019.

Last year around 50 participants varying in age from 30 to 70 years benefited from the rides and this year it’s hoped that more will sign-up. The rides are free of charge and are supported by leaders trained and experienced to adapt to rider needs. There’s also a strong social aspect to the rides, enhanced by a café stop on most of the rides.

For less confident or just plain rusty riders starter training is available in Horsham Park to help you get back in the saddle!
