Support from HMRC to get your business ready for Brexit

View in browser

Dear customer,

When the UK leaves the EU there will be immediate changes to the way UK businesses trade with the EU that may impact your business.

We have continued to write to VAT registered businesses to let them know what actions they need to take now. If you trade with the EU you can find letters on importing and exporting after 31 Oc‌to‌be‌r on no deal Brexit advice for businesses trading with the EU. If you also trade with the rest of the world you can find the letter on no deal Brexit advice for businesses trading with the EU and/or the rest of the world.

Transitional Simplified Procedures

Monday 14 October – 2pm to 2.45pm

If your business imports goods this live webinar is for you. Find out what you need to know including:

  • why you should register for Transitional Simplified Procedures (TSP)
  • how to use TSP to import your goods from the EU
  • how to make an import declaration
  • what you need to include on a Simplified Frontier Declaration
  • how to work out the import value of your goods.

You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions during the webinar using the on-screen text box.

We may not be able to answer all questions raised during the webinar. We will provide useful links to regularly updated information at the end.

Or you can catch up with a range of support available on HMRC’s YouTube channel, including videos on getting ready for Brexit, exporting using the Common Transit Convention and a recording of the 'Transitional Simplified Procedures' webinar. All available at a time that suits you.

Update on Tariffs

The government has published an update to the UK’s Temporary Tariff Regime for a no-deal Brexit. The government has listened to the concerns and needs of businesses and consumers and has made three specific amendments to the tariff rates published in March.

Importers must check if they will need to pay temporary rates of customs duty (tariffs) on imports after a no-deal Brexit. You should also contact your overseas suppliers to make sure they are aware of the Temporary Tariff Regime.

For general enquiries about importing and exporting after Brexit, you can also call the Brexit import and export helpline on 0300 3301 331. The helpline is available from Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Yours sincerely
