Shabana Mahmood MP has been appointed as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice.
Members of her ministerial team were also appointed this week with confirmation of all their portfolios due to be finalised soon.

Two new courtrooms will be opening near Blackpool at Fleetwood to increase capacity and will sit alongside other temporary Nightingale courts.
Fleetwood will close from Monday 22 July 2024 for around two months while we complete the required changes to accommodate the new court rooms. During this short period, cases will be heard at Preston and online, where possible.

Probate professionals in Birmingham and Liverpool are invited to come and meet the probate service team and registrar at 11am on Tuesday 23 July 2024 and at 11am on Wednesday 24 July 2024 respectively.

On 1 July 2024 probate grants were updated with the signature of Genine Evans, the new District Probate Registrar at HMCTS.

As of Wednesday 10 July 2024, tribunal hearings have now moved to a new site in Blackpool.
The lease of Prudential House in the town has expired and cases will now be listed at 2-8 Market Street, Blackpool.
The building will provide tribunal hearing rooms and a video link facility.
