New NHS App Proxy Access Leaflet Now Available for Parents and Carers

A new digital leaflet has been launched by the Integrated Care Board (ICB) to help parents and carers manage their children’s health more easily through proxy access on the NHS App. The leaflet is now available for new mums in Herefordshire and Worcestershire to view within the Badger Notes App. It provides a simple guide to using the NHS App to keep track of children’s appointments, prescriptions, vaccinations and other important health information, alongside managing your own healthcare.

Proxy access allows parents, legal guardians or carers to view a child’s medical information, as long as they are registered at the same GP practice. The leaflet explains how to download the NHS App and how to request proxy access from your GP practice, including the identity documents needed to set it up. You can view the leaflet on the NHS App page of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care System website. For more information about the NHS App, visit the NHS website.

Help Shape Herefordshire’s First Local Nature Recovery Strategy

Herefordshire has launched the draft of its first ever Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS), a collaborative plan created with residents, landowners, farmers, environmental groups and charities to help protect and restore the county’s natural environment.

The strategy sets out 15 priority habitats and almost 100 opportunities to boost biodiversity across 200,000 hectares, from enhancing rivers and wetlands to strengthening woodlands, meadows, hedgerows and wildlife habitats. Backed by detailed mapping and expert input, the LNRS highlights ways local people and organisations can work together to create cleaner watercourses, richer wildlife and more resilient ecosystems.

A public consultation is now open, giving residents the chance to help shape the final strategy and share local knowledge, whilst an interactive online map allows people to explore potential habitat and species measures. You can also come and talk to the Nature Recovery team at Ross Market on Saturday 7 March and Hereford City Market on Saturday 14 March.

To view the strategy, explore the map, or have your say, visit the Herefordshire Council website.

Applications Now Open: Three £50,000 Grants for Charities Supporting Young People Into Work

Charities across Herefordshire are being invited to apply for one of three £50,000 grants now available through the Persimmon Charitable Foundation’s 2026 funding programme. Following the success of last year’s scheme, the Foundation has expanded its funding pot to £300,000 to support even more organisations helping young people into employment.

Registered charities can now submit applications outlining how they would use the funding to improve employability opportunities for young people. Submissions should clearly set out the impact the funding would make, including measurable outcomes.

The deadline for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 15 March 2026. Resources to help promote the funding, along with full details on eligibility and how to apply, can be found through the links provided by the Persimmon Charitable Foundation.

Celebrate 10 Years of Leominster Meeting Centre

Come along to Leominster Meeting Centre on Wednesday 19 March, 11am–1.30pm, at The Old Priory, Leominster, for a special event celebrating ten years of supporting people living with memory concerns and dementia. The open event is an opportunity to meet the team, learn more about the Centre’s person‑centred, community‑based approach, and hear how it continues to help individuals, families and carers through meaningful activity, social connection and practical support. There’s even a light lunch provided!

The event will also introduce Leominster Meeting Centre Plus, a new enhanced service designed for people who need a little more support while still benefiting from the Meeting Centre ethos. Running on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, this additional provision offers smaller groups, increased staffing and a more structured day. Traditional Meeting Centre sessions will continue on Thursdays for those in the earlier stages of memory loss.

If you would like more information, referral details, or are unable to attend but would still like to connect, please contact the team on 01568 368 180.

Paid Focus Group: Share Your Views on How Men’s Mental Health Is Shown in the Media

Rural Media is inviting people in Herefordshire to take part in a paid focus group exploring how men’s mental health is portrayed in film and media. The team wants to hear from anyone with lived experience of mental health challenges, people working in mental health related services, or anyone with an interest in improving how men’s experiences are represented.

The in‑person sessions will take place in Hereford and are relaxed, informal conversations lasting around 90 minutes, with no more than six participants in each group. Everyone taking part will receive £50, along with refreshments, as a thank you. All contributions will be kept confidential and anonymous, and participants are welcome to share only what feels comfortable.

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.
