Hello from Hector at Here For Herefordshire Holidays!

Hector, our Talk Community Mascot has been out and about this week. Hector popped along to visit some of the activities taking place on the Here for Herefordshire Holidays programme. The programme launched on Monday and will offer fully funded activities to eligible children and young people, until 22nd August.

If you, or someone you know is eligible, we are encouraging you to browse activities, check availability and get booking! Each activity includes a free, healthy meal so no need to bring a packed lunch.

If you have already booked and your child can no longer attend activities, please do be sure to cancel your booking in advance. For more information, bookings and cancellations, please visit the Talk Community Directory.

Help shape the regeneration of Merton Meadow

Herefordshire Council is asking for your views on the future of Merton Meadow - a key gateway to Hereford and an important space for the city’s growth and development.

The council is developing proposals to transform the area into a vibrant, accessible, and sustainable space, and your feedback will help shape these plans. Whether you live, work, visit, or run a business in Hereford, your input is vital to ensure the regeneration meets the needs of the whole community.

To take part in the consultation, please visit the Herefordshire Council website.

Free Online Sessions: Talking About Suicide in the Media

Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s Suicide Prevention Programme has funded a series of free online advice sessions delivered by Samaritans, designed for anyone who might communicate publicly about suicide.

The sessions will explore how to talk about suicide responsibly, including how to use positive storytelling to help change the conversation around mental health and suicide prevention.

You don’t have to be a media or communications professional to take part - these sessions are ideal for anyone working in the voluntary sector, planning suicide prevention campaigns, or helping to share messages about the Baton of Hope Tour coming to Herefordshire on 2nd October.

Upcoming sessions take place on Tuesday 12th August from 1:30pm to 2:30pm and Tuesday 9th September from 10am to 11am.

There’s no limit on places, so if in doubt, sign up! Secure your place using this form.
