Herefordshire Youth Employment Hub newsletter, July 2025
Welcome to the first edition of the Youth Employment Hub newsletter!
We’re excited to share this first update with you. Whether you're job hunting, exploring training options, or figuring out your next move, we're here to help.
In each monthly issue, you’ll find information about what’s on, upcoming events, inspiring success stories, and ways you can get involved and help shape the future of youth employment services in Herefordshire.
We've recently recruited two more members to our Hub team. Ace will be joining us as an additional Careers and Employment Coach and Caitlin will be our new Data Officer. We’re really looking forward to welcoming them to our team from September.

Liv's Story
"Not long ago I was anxious and pretty lost, but with help from Hereford Y.E.H I've found my footing and gained much more confidence in my future than ever." (Right: Self Portrait, drawn by Liv)
When Liv first joined the Youth Employment Hub, she was feeling overwhelmed, isolated, and unsure about her next steps after leaving sixth form. Struggling with social anxiety and unsure of her next steps, the idea of starting work or further study felt out of reach. Through regular one-to-one support, we helped Liv build her confidence, explore her interests, and set small but meaningful goals to move forward at her own pace.
She really engaged with our creative workshops, where her natural talent for art and illustration shone through. These sessions became more than just a creative outlet, they gave Liv a sense of community, purpose, and belonging. With her confidence growing, we supported her to explore future options, attend open days at Hereford College of Arts, and navigate everything from student finance to university life.
Liv is now preparing to study a foundation degree in September, proof that with the right support, it’s possible to turn uncertainty into a future of possibility!

On Thursday 10 July, we hosted a Youth Employment Week event.
Young people aged 16–24 took part in an engaging Compass for Life workshop, with Tom Sawyer. The workshop was designed to help build confidence, motivation, and a sense of direction.
The session gave attendees the space to reflect on their goals, think about their future, and take practical steps towards what they want to achieve.
Our young people left feeling inspired and more focused on their next move.
|
We were also joined by Ceri, a local Army recruitment officer, who spoke to attendees about careers in the Armed Forces.
Some of our young people came along with a serious interest or with a little bit of curiosity, but it was a great chance for them to explore real opportunities and ask questions in a relaxed setting.
The atmosphere was welcoming, supportive, and energising, a reminder of what can happen when young people are given space, encouragement, and practical tools to move forward with their career choices.
If you’re aged 16–24, or supporting someone who is, we’d love to welcome you to future sessions at the Hub. We'll be hosting free workshops, drop-ins, and creative activities, every month. All of these are designed to help you explore new opportunities, build confidence, and connect with others.
Keep an eye on our ‘What’s On' section, which will be updated each newsletter.
