Help spread the word for Pension Credit Week of Action (2- 6 September)

This week is Pension Credit Week of Action; an opportunity to encourage people to check their eligibility and apply.

Pension Credit is worth on average, £3,900 per year and unlocks additional support including Winter Fuel Payment, help with Council tax, NHS dental care and for those over 75, a free TV licence.

Thanks to the Pension Credit backdating rules, it is possible to apply for Pension Credit and have the claim backdated by up to 3 months - so long as there is entitlement during that time. This means that the latest date to apply and still qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment is 21st December 2024.

You can read more about the eligibility for pension credit and find out how to apply on the Talk Community Directory.

Help promote Pension Credit within your local community by downloading posters, flyers and social media assets from the government’s online stakeholder toolkit.

Working Together and Engagement with the VCSE sector in Herefordshire

The Herefordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) will shortly be consulting and agreeing a framework for future engagement with the HSCP and voluntary, charity and social enterprises (VCSEs) in Herefordshire.

The HSCP is responsible for making sure that all agencies work together to safeguard children, and is led by three Safeguarding Partners: Herefordshire Council, the NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire Integrated Care Board, and West Mercia Police.

New statutory guidance – Working Together 2023 – has provided an opportunity to revisit how VCSEs are to be included within the HSCP multi-agency safeguarding arrangements so that there is effective communication and service development.

Moving up to a new school: advice for parents

With the new school year underway, the Solihull Approach are encouraging parents to think about what they can 'pack' into their child's emotional 'kit bag'. If you are in touch with parents of a child that is transitioning into a new year group, it might be that they are struggling to understand their child's emotional health and behaviour.
