Eligible families can now book their free summer activities!

Book your place today! Children and young people (aged 5 to 16) in Herefordshire who receive benefits-related free school meals can now sign up for up to 20 free activity sessions between 20th July and 18th August.

This summer activities include drama workshops, pottery, martial arts and much more! Each activity session includes a free meal so no need to bring a packed lunch!

Eligible families can book their places through the holiday activities page on the Talk Community website.

Give your summer holiday the WOW factor!

WOW activities are back. Thanks to the Talk Community WOW Grant, organisations are offering a range of free, engaging family activities to bring the wow factor to families across the county. Sessions will run over weekends, evenings and school holidays and will include free food and drink for everyone attending.

These sessions are completely free to attend and can provide families with access to valuable information and advice to help with the cost of living.

The WOW programme is delivered through the Household Support Fund funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. 


Household Support Fund

The Household Support Fund, is still open for applications. Support is available for various low income groups and vulnerable households and individuals.

This includes support for households which have high energy costs due to specialist medical equipment including patients with long term respiratory conditions and for households with children under 5 who are struggling financially.

Free drop in Health Checks at Blueschool House

Taurus Healthcare’s Talk Wellbeing team will be offering a series of drop-in sessions at Blueschool House, Blueschool Street in Hereford. The sessions will be 9.30am - 1.30pm on the following dates Thursday 25th July, Tuesday 6th August and Wednesday 21st August.

The sessions are open to anyone over the age of 18, you don’t need to book an appointment or be registered with a GP surgery to attend.The friendly team can offer a heart health check which includes blood pressure and cholesterol checks, they can also talk about your general wellbeing and offer support.

Talk Community Warm Welcome with tea and toast (it’s on us!)

On the second and fourth Friday of each month Leominster Community Centre opens up its doors for a ‘Warm welcome’ between 11am - 2pm. Anyone can drop in for free tea and toast and a friendly chat with the Talk Community team or access a free health check from Talk Wellbeing.

Each session will see partner agencies join Talk Community to provide specialist information, advice and support.   

The next warm welcome takes place on Friday, 26th July (we’ll get the kettle on!)

What’s new on the Talk Community Directory?

Schools out for summer!
