It’s Volunteers’ Week, a chance to recognise and celebrate the amazing contribution that volunteers’ make to both society as a whole and our local communities. Across Herefordshire volunteers’ play a vital role in understanding and meeting local needs, supporting many of the services we rely on in the community.
Volunteers Week offers the perfect moment to say a big thank you to all of the amazing people who volunteer across Herefordshire and in our Talk Community hubs.

Become a Halo Hero

Charity Film Screening this weekend
Come along this Saturday, 8 June, at 5.15pm for a special charity film screening of "Someone's Daughter, Someone's Son" at The Courtyard, supported by Hereford City Rotary Club. Directed by Lorna Tucker, this powerful documentary sheds light on homelessness as Tucker revisits areas where she once slept rough to interview those still living on the streets.
All ticket sales will support The Living Room, Herefordshire Veterans Support Centre, and include tea/coffee and a cake before the screening.

Peer Support for Parents/Carers in Bromyard
A new peer support group for parents/carers will launch in Bromyard on Tuesday 18th June. The group aims to support parents and carers who care for a child or young person who is experiencing mental health difficulties or exploring neurodivergence. The sessions are organised by Herefordshire Mind and will give parents/carers an opportunity to find support, make new friends and hear from guest speakers who will present on key topics such as Autism, SEN processes, LGBTQIA+ and community support.

Carers’ Week and beyond - a month of raising awareness and celebrating communities
June has become a month where many communities are celebrated and many important issues are brought to the fore, as a wealth of awareness days and weeks are scattered throughout the month. Keep your eyes peeled on our website and social media for more information about some of the awareness days, including loneliness awareness week, diabetes awareness week, refugee week and learning disability awareness week to name just a few!

If you’re organising a local event or series of activities in Herefordshire over the coming months, we would love to hear from you. You can upload your events directly, by heading over to our what’s on calendar and click on the ‘Add an event’ button.
There’s a short form to complete, where you can describe what your event/activity involves, and add contact details, venue and cost. Be sure to click on “Set date”, to include the date(s) of your event/activity. Once the Talk Community Directory team receive your form, we’ll add the event to the calendar.
