A new fund is launched to support community organisations delivering critical services

The Community Organisations Cost of Living Fund is offering between £10,000 and £75,000 for organisations that support people and communities under severe pressure because of the increased cost of living. The fund will prioritise organisations that support low income households and individuals.

To apply, your organisation must run critical services providing food, emergency supplies, emergency shelter, safe spaces, warmth, financial advice or housing advice. Your organisation must also be facing both increased demand for these critical services and increased cost of delivering the services.

Priority will be given to small and medium sized organisations with an annual turnover of between £10,000 and £1 million. Larger organisations who apply will need to show that they work closely and effectively with local communities and fill a gap in essential local services.

The funding can be used to pay for delivering, expanding or adapting your existing critical services and any retrospective costs of running the existing critical services between 24th July and the date you are funded.

For more information on how to apply visit the National Lottery Community Fund website.

An invitation to share your experiences with CarerLinks for the New Autism Strategy (make your voice heard)

CarerLinks are working with Herefordshire and Worcestershire councils, alongside colleagues from West Mercia Police and Health, to write a new autism strategy for our counties.

The strategy will cover a range of themes, one of which is keeping safe. CarerLinks are keen to hear from people with autism, or people who care for people with autism, about their experiences in keeping safe.

The project aims to get an insight into the reasons autistic people may feel unsafe, as well as establishing the support that is currently available, identifying the gaps in support and commission suitable services to improve the safety of those with autism.

CarerLinks are looking to hold a forum on 15th August 2023 11am-1pm at the Fred Bulmer Centre, Wall St, Hereford. You can also attend virtually if you are unable to make it in person. Booking is essential so if you would like to attend, contact herefordshire@crossroadstogether.org.uk or call 01432 663057 to secure your place before 7th August.
