Free stop smoking advice
Stopping smoking is one of the best things anyone will ever do for their health, and is much easier with the right support.
Better Health have a range of resources to help you quit smoking. Visit the Better Health website for more information and advice on how to quit smoking for good.
Here in Hertsmere, our Healthy Hubs run Stop Smoking Clinics, where staff members are fully trained on smoking cessation. Smokers are three times more likely to stop smoking when getting help from a stop smoking service than trying to quit without support. Visit your local Healthy Hub for more information and support to stop smoking now.
 Book your We Move, She Moves sessions now
We Move, She Moves is a great way to get active! Sessions that take place weekly include; Yoga, Pilates, Aqua Zumba, Dance Aerobics, Pound, Golden Dance and Tai Chi.
Our session of the month is:
Dance Aerobics!
Dance Aerobics is a group fitness class that incorporates different forms of dance. It’s a full body aerobic workout, divided into different tracks that provide the perfect soundtrack to the different intensity moves.
Dance Aerobics offers a relaxed environment where you can really let your inhibitions go, work your whole body, learn some new moves and meet some great people along the way.
Whether you’re hoping to lose weight or your normal routine has gotten boring, you’ll get the results you want faster by keeping your body guessing. Come along on Tuesdays, 12-1pm at King Charles the Martyr, Potters Bar and get moving! Sessions start on 16 January.
Getting Active in Hertsmere and Watford webinar
Come along to the Getting Active in Hertsmere and Watford webinar on Thursday 18 January at 10.30am via Zoom. This webinar is a great tool for any older adults or anyone working with/supporting older adults wanting to find more information.

Cancel Out Cancer sessions in January
Come along to one of the online Cancel Out Cancer sessions running in January via zoom! You will learn all about potential risk factors, cancer screening, symptoms, and prevention, all in a free 60 minute session.
Sessions will take place:
- Monday 15 January, 7-8pm
- Tuesday 16 January, 11am-12noon
- Thursday 18 January, 2-3pm.
Booking is limited to 25 places per event to help keep it interactive and engaging but more sessions will appear on the schedule if there is high demand.

January is also cervical cancer awareness month, with cervical cancer prevention week starting on 22 January. Cervical screening can help to spot any warning signs of cancer. It is vital anyone who is eligible for cervical screening takes up the offer.

Join others this Dry January!
Dry January is a national campaign that encourages people across the country to give up alcohol for 31 days.
Giving up alcohol has many mental and physical benefits. Cutting down alcohol has shown to decrease the risk of diabetes, cancer and blood pressure problems. Money gets saved, energy increases and days get busier.

Get involved in parkrun!
A great way to get active is taking part in parkrun, a 5k run that takes place every Saturday morning.
In Hertsmere, parkrun takes place at Aldenham country park, with the race starting at 9am. It is a completely free event; come along and get involved.
Junior parkrun is also available for 4-14 year olds. It is a fun 2k race with two locations in Hertsmere; King George Recreation Ground and Furzefield Leisure Centre. Bring your kids down any Sunday morning for a 9am start.
Get the support you need this winter
The winter can be tough on our emotional wellbeing and there may be days you’re not feeling good – you may feel worried, anxious, overwhelmed, depressed or you just want someone who’ll listen.
Give your mental wellbeing a boost with Togetherall; it is a free, anonymous service to help you with whatever you need. The Samaritans provide a free 24/7 service for anyone struggling with their mental wellbeing. Call 116 123 for a confidential chat if you are in need.

Free WhatsApp advice for 18-25 year olds
Are you/do you know someone aged 18-25? Citizens Advice Hertsmere are running a WhatsApp project to try and make it easier for 18-25 year-olds in Hertsmere to come for advice.
