One of our dedicated Waste and Recycling Team has been recognised as an unsung hero.
Anthony King has worked for the council since 1992 and was put forward for the award, run by MGB Straight, our container company, for his commitment and hard work during the coronavirus pandemic.
Anthony said: "It was a surprise to find out I had been put forward for this award and that I'd won - I didn't know anything about it. It's a great feeling to know that your work is appreciated by your colleagues.
"Myself and the whole Waste and Recycling Team has worked incredibly hard during the pandemic lockdown to ensure we have been able to maintain a vital core service to our residents. It has been challenging, but we worked together, we work hard and got the job done each week."
Anthony goes above and beyond every day. He has been in every day and many weekends during the pandemic dealing with every request, no matter how small, efficiently and effectively,
