Meadow Park improvements

Executive last night (Wednesday 13 November) approved the next phase of exciting plans to improve Meadow Park in Borehamwood.

The plans include installing a splash park, refurbishing the sports courts and an additional multi games court, improving car parking facilities, public toilets, as well as planting 60 additional trees and new signage.

Meadow Park is a key open space in the heart of Borehamwood and these additional improvements will create a great place for families with children of all ages to get outside and have fun. The interesting equipment and an exciting environment aims to be inclusive for all abilities, to encourage physical and social play.

In 2018, the council completed phase one of the parks improvements project. This included establishing an inclusive toddler play area and large landscaped activity area for older children, creating a fitness zone, installing electronic interactive play equipment, creating new footpaths across the park to improve access and new entrance barriers to prevent unauthorised vehicle access and landscaping.

The key elements of the plans include:

  • installation of a splash park
  • improvements to car parking facilities, including 50 additional bays, electronic charging provision and solar panels
  • provision of refreshment facilities, public toilets and outside patio space
  • refurbished tennis and basketball courts, and the installation of an enclosed multi-games court.

Work is scheduled to start in spring 2020 with the first of the new facilities available from 2021.
