Consultation with local residents about proposed parking charges in Bushey

news for you - red

Hertsmere Borough Council has written to local residents potentially affected by the introduction of parking charges in Bushey village about the proposed plans.

The council is recommending parking charges at Kemp Place Car Park, with the first two hours remaining free, and on Bushey High Street, bringing Bushey in line with the rest of the borough.

The suggested changes will help improve parking management in the area, increase parking for visitors to the village and encourage a greater turnover of vehicles.

We regularly review arrangements in the borough to ensure that our approach is fair, consistent and appropriate. A parking study was carried out in 2018 and the council is now consulting with local residents and businesses affected by any new parking controls or changes.

We are considering providing 10 new parking bays in the road next to Kemp Place, and introducing parking charges at Kemp Place car park after two hours free parking and in Bushey High Street. These measures have been proposed to increase footfall and help make sure parking is evened up across the village area.

The proposed changes include:

• Two hours free parking at Kemp Place car park, with charges introduced after this period.
• Pay and Display parking along High Street Bushey.
• The introduction of ‘no waiting at any time’ restrictions on the south side High Street Bushey.
• Introduction of a Resident Permit Parking Scheme.

The deadline for responses is 14 October.
