TENANCY SUSTAINMENT OFFICER 12 months fixed term contract
SALARY £27,844 - £31,639 per annum, pro rata (depending on experience)
Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire – we are 13 miles from Central London and within the M25. We adjoin Greater London with excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible. The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras. The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).
Hertsmere Borough Council is seeking to appoint a Tenancy Sustainment Officer within Housing Services. This is an exciting opportunity to join our busy Housing Team and contribute to the success of our new prevention approach to supporting homeless households.
The successful candidate will support single households with complex needs who are currently homeless or are at risk of homelessness. You will provide support and advice to applicants to secure and maintain private rented accommodation through our new private sector offer ‘Let with Hertsmere’, or support them in to social rented accommodation. A positive attitude and a caring approach towards customers who are experiencing housing needs is required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a good knowledge of housing and associated legalisation. You will need to be organised and methodical to manage a complex work load. You will have excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills to find solutions for those facing housing problems.
The ideal candidate will be qualified to A level standard, or equivalent, and have experience of working in a customer facing environment, and be able to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
The post is offered on a full time (36 hours per week), fixed term basis for 12 months.
