APPRENTICE ACCOUNT TECHNICIAN
Two year fixed term contract
£11,526 per annum rising to £16,710 per annum after one year

Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire – we are 13 miles from Central London and within the M25.  We adjoin Greater London with excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible. The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras.  The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).
A great opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Account Technician within our Finance and Business Services.

The successful applicant will receive training in order to become a qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and will follow an apprenticeship course with Hertford Regional College based in Ware.  We will give you experience of all of the key functions within our Finance Department including petty cash transactions, processing invoices and assisting with insurance claims.

You will be educated to A level standard or equivalent and have knowledge and experience of using Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

We hope the apprenticeship will lead to permanent employment as a Trainee Accounting Technician. 
The Council offers a Career Grade Scheme for trainee accountants, which offers accelerated salary progression and fully funded sponsorship of the accountancy qualification as well as day release.

The post is offered on a two year fixed term contract, full time (36 hours per week), including one day at college during term time (training at college will commence in September 2019).  Benefits include 26 – 31 days annual leave (depending on the length of Local Government Service), up to one day flexi leave per month, car allowance, local government pension scheme, payment of professional membership fees, flexible working hours, cycle scheme, free car parking, season ticket loans and free use of leisure facilities.
