A local project has received a much-needed boost thanks to financial contributions from borough councillors.

Our Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) gives each of our 39 councillors £500 to spend on local projects throughout the year.

Councillors Anthony Spencer and Peter Wayne from Shenley ward have allocated £200 each to the Borehamwood Foodbank to buy 12 slow cookers and 12 recipe books.

This will enable staff to show people how to cook using a slow cooker and then loan them the cooker for a period of time to use in their own home.

To apply to Hertsmere’s WIIS please contact your local borough councillor or call 020 8207 7801. For more information visit www.hertsmere.gov.uk/WIIS
