
Thanks to councillors in Hertsmere organisations have benefitted from just over £2,500 from the council's Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS).

Elstree and Borehamwood Unity network received a total of £875 from Councillors Bright, Eni, Newmark and Turner towards hall hire, marketing and musicians for Black History Month celebrations in October. Councillor Worster, from Potters Bar also contributed to this event as it will be open to all residents and visitors of Hertsmere.
Elstree School of Gymnastics were able to purchase gymnastics equipment thanks to Councillor Bright MBE allocating £237. Councillor Vince allocated £250 to Community Hertsmere for a street party held to celebrate the royal wedding.
The Rotary Club of Elstree and Borehamwood were able to put on their annual school’s art show during the Elstree and Borehamwood festival fortnight. A total of £800 was allocated by Councillors Brown, Cohen, Kelly, Plancey, Turner and G Silver.
Councillors Rebecca and Richard Butler allocated £280 to Shizentai Judo Club to pay for the hire of a hall and purchase of medals for their annual award event.
Hertsmere Community Safety Partnership was awarded £137 by Councillor G Silver for them to purchase two portable ‘A’ frame notice boards to promote local beat surgeries by Police Community Support Officers.
Christmas has come early for Potters Bar residents! All nine Potters Bar councillors allocated a total of £1,450 to the Christmas in Potters Bar group. This group is fundraising to enable Potters Bar to have Christmas lights over the festive season. The Potters Bar councillors (by ward) are Councillor Barker, Knell, Worster, Heywood Lyon, S Hodgson-Jones, Donne, P Hodgson-Jones and A Sachdev.
In Bushey, Reveley Lodge purchased new signs to display the layout of the garden and directions thanks to Councillor Batten who allocated £300.
Warren Estate Residents Association was awarded £550 to support the inaugural Bushey Acoustic Festival and Summer picnic. Councillors Batten, Choudhury, Davis, Morris, L Silver and Swerling all allocated funding towards this event.
The Bushey Festival Association were able to purchase resources for festival events, including a barrier mesh, cones, litter pickers due to Councillor Rutledge allocating them £400.
Hertsmere Leisure has benefitted from allocations of £100 by Councillors Batten and L Silver to hire equipment for a Fun in the Park event to be held at King George Recreation Ground.
Parkrun UK are in the process of organising a junior park run to be held in King George recreation ground. To enable this event to take place, a portable defibrillator was required. Thanks to Councillors Choudhury, Davis, Merchant, Morris OBE, Quilty, Rutledge, L Silver, Swerling and West allocating a total of £748 parkrun UK were able to purchase this essential piece of equipment. Details of the launch of this park run will be announced shortly by parkrun UK.
North Bushey Fair recently held their annual event and thanks to Councillor Davis they were able to secure funding of £215 which was used for the hire of additional refuse containers and the emptying.
Our Ward Improvement Initiative Scheme (WIIS) gives each of our 39 councillors £500 to spend on local projects throughout the year.
