Temporary Accommodation Team Leader Salary £30,892 - £35,098 per annum (depending on experience)

Hertsmere Borough Council is seeking to appoint to a number of roles within the Housing Service to deliver the housing elements of the council’s 2020 vision and Corporate Plan.
Hertsmere is a non-stock holding authority and as such faces significant challenges in meeting local housing needs. In response to this and the implementation of the Homelessness Reduction Act, we are investing in additional capacity to take the service forward.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the busy Housing Team who are embracing change and working hard to deliver the service effectively. You will be able to contribute to shaping the service and have opportunities to develop your own ideas and initiatives to meet the challenges ahead.
We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated individuals with good knowledge of housing and associated legalisation. You will need to be organised and methodical to manage a complex and varied work load. You will need a positive attitude and caring approach towards customers. You will have excellent communication, negotiation and problem solving skills to find solutions for those facing housing problems.
The ideal candidates will have suitable relevant qualifications and experience in a housing related environment. However, where applicants have limited, qualifications training opportunities may be offered.
This role manages a small team to provide oversight of the council’s temporary accommodation provision for homeless households. You will ensure that the council’s service meets best practice, working with a wide variety of stakeholders other agencies to promote and safeguard the welfare of clients in temporary accommodation. You will lead on the implementation of the recommendations from a recent external Review of Temporary Accommodation to ensure policies, procedures and systems are in place for effective management of temporary accommodation. You will also support senior managers in the development of partnerships with private landlords and lettings agencies to help meet the housing need in the borough, developing initiatives to increase the supply of privately rented accommodation.
The post is offered on a full time (36 hours per week), 18 month fixed term basis.
