It's never too late to be active in Hertsmere

A Walking Football session

Age is only a number and older Hertsmere residents have the opportunity to prove the saying correct by participating in a range of physical activities from this month.

Hertsmere Borough Council is supporting Hertfordshire County Council’s ‘It’s Never Too Late To Be Active’ campaign, which runs between 23 April and 15 July to encourage the older generation to take up physical activity and is part of the Hertfordshire Year of Physical Activity.

Among activities taking place will be a Pickleball taster session at the Furzefield Leisure Centre in Potters Bar on 23 April. The little known sport is similar to tennis, but is played with paddles on a badminton court with a lowered net and can be played in singles or doubles format.

Football fans will be able to enjoy Walking Football sessions every Tuesday on the Astroturf Court at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre between 11am and noon, while on Thursdays there are Walking Football sessions at Furzefield Centre between 2pm and 3pm.

Other sessions include Walking Netball every Monday at Furzefield between 11.30am and 12.30pm.

The Hertfordshire Year of Physical Activity 2018 is aimed at encouraging residents to adopt a more active lifestyle.
