PLANNING APPRENTICE Two year fixed term contract £11,220 per annum rising to £16,320 per annum after one year
We are both an urban and rural authority (including Green Belt) that provides a variety of challenging and innovative planning work. Our Council focus is firmly based on innovation, economic regeneration and increased growth. The career opportunities are excellent with a nationally designated Housing Zone and a new Local Plan underway. We are in close proximity to the M25 and the M1 with speedy links to London.
A great opportunity has arisen for a Town Planning Apprentice working within our Planning and Economic Development Service.
The successful applicant will receive training in all aspects of town planning and will follow an apprenticeship course with Oaklands College based in St Albans. We will give you experience of all of the key functions within our planning Department including processing planning applications, developing policies and enforcing planning laws.
You will need a minimum requirement of five GCSEs (A-C), including English and maths and IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
We hope the apprenticeship will lead to permanent employment as a Planning Technician, an Enforcement Officer or a Trainee Planning Officer. The Council offers a Career Grade Scheme for trainee planning officers, which offers accelerated salary progression and fully funded sponsorship of the planning qualification as well as day release.
The post is offered on a full time basis (36 hours per week), two year fixed term contract, including one day at college during term time (training at college will commence in September 2018).
