There’s an opportunity to find out more about an innovative proposal aimed at helping to address affordable housing needs in the borough.
The planning application would transform two sites off Ripon Way and Cranes Way in Borehamwood, which currently have 38 domestic garages owned by Hertsmere Borough Council, into modern residential apartments with associated parking and landscaping.
Information panels with further details of the proposal will be available to view at the community hub at 96 Shenley Road, Borehamwood for two weeks from Tuesday 3 April.
The development would boost the number of good quality affordable homes in Hertsmere and supply at least 35 per cent of affordable housing in the borough.
The homes would be developed in a way that is sensitive to local residents and the area.
The two garage sites are currently in a poor condition, often blighted by flytipping. The proposal will revamp the area into modern accommodation containing a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments with attractive landscaping, all complying with Hertsmere's Development Plan Document and Local Plan polices.
The planning application for the proposal has been published on our website www.hertsmere.gov.uk/planningsearch and can be viewed under reference number 17/2474/FUL. Local residents living nearby are being sent details of the application and how they can comment.
