Don’t throw it away, give it away! That’s the message from our waste team after setting up a new Freegle page for Borehamwood and Elstree.

Freegle is completely free to use and is a bit like online dating, but for your old stuff. It helps people to give, and get, things for free in their local community.

The site is really easy to use – you simply post a message offering an item, other people see it and reply, you offer it to someone and they collect. You’ve decluttered, made someone’s day and saved an item from landfill.

On the site you can also write a ‘wanted’ post, so instead of offering an item you can ask if anyone has something you need that they’re throwing away.
