Principal Planning Officer/Deputy Team Leader

£33,000 - £38,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hertsmere Borough Council is located less than 15 miles from central London and our Borehamwood offices are within easy reach of the M1, M25 and Thameslink rail service. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual with good local authority planning experience. Hertsmere has a diverse population of over 100,000, located within the Green Belt and is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to Elstree Studios and BBC Elstree.

You will be involved in a range of challenging policy work, following the adoption of our Core Strategy in 2013 and the introduction of our CIL charging schedule, the first in Hertfordshire, in 2014.  We are aiming to adopt an Area Action Plan for a key regeneration corridor in Borehamwood within the next few months and are looking to press on with a range of other key policy documents, including an early partial review of our Core Strategy.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a number of planning policy projects within the team as well as deputising for the Policy and Transport Manager and mentoring/supervising other members of the team.

You should be a full member or eligible for full membership of the RTPI and have previous planning policy experience.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Mark Silverman, Policy and Transport Manager on 020 8207 7516.
