- Recycling Point (Outside Co-op Store), Middle Park Way, Leigh Park, Havant PO9 3SU

🚫 Never put batteries or electrical items containing batteries in your rubbish or recycling bins! Damaged batteries can spark fires during collection or processing, putting waste workers at serious risk. Instead, follow these simple steps to recycle them responsibly:
-
Gather your used batteries - collect all types of household batteries and keep them in a secure container.
-
Check for hidden batteries - many electrical items like toys, remote controls, toothbrushes, and vapes contain built-in batteries. If you’re recycling these, treat them as battery-containing items.
-
Find your nearest recycling point: 🔗Recycle Your Electricals – Find a Recycling Point
-
Visit your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) - most HWRCs in Hampshire accept batteries and electricals. Drop them off in the designated bins.
-
Spread the word - help keep Hampshire safe by sharing this guide with friends and family.

Send recyclable Christmas cards - plain Christmas and other greetings cards can be recycled as they are made from paper. Cards with glitter are not recyclable and must be disposed of in your rubbish bin. |
Avoid buying shiny wrapping - glossy or laminated gift wrap cannot be recycled. Newsprint, paper grocery bags, the brown paper from inside your packaging or other natural-fibre paper are a great alternative! |
Most cardboard boxes are high-value recyclables, but the sheer volume of them means they often overflow your recycling bin. If you receive gifts by mail this year, break down the cardboard boxes to save space and make sure they end up dry and in your recycling bin. |
