Plastic recycling bins

Plastic recycling bins are in place across the borough to support and encourage continued plastic recycling. Plastic pots, tubs and trays can now be taken to one of five sites to be recycled.

It is encouraging to see how well used these plastic recycling bins are across the borough. With usage steadily increasing, we have been closely monitoring how often the bins are used and how frequently they need to be emptied to ensure the service keeps up with demand.

In response to this growth, we are changing the collection frequency from fortnightly to weekly. This will take effect from 1 October, helping residents continue to recycle their plastics conveniently and effectively.

Keeping pets calm during fireworks season

With fireworks season soon approaching, it is important to make sure everything is in place for a smooth night. Helping animals to stay calm around loud noises can take months of training called desensitisation.

Dogs Trust has sound-based treatment programmes that are free to use and will help your dogs get used to new and scary sounds. Each sound resource is paired with a corresponding how-to guide and contains a collection of specifically recorded noises:

Supporting older residents through Live Longer Better

Residents aged 60+ are invited to the first Live Longer Better event at Staunton Country Park; a chance to take part in fun activities and make positive lifestyle changes.

Live Longer Better, delivered by Havant Borough Council in partnership with Hampshire County Council, aims to support older adults in finding ways to stay independent, live life to the full and continue doing what they love.

This FREE event will take place on Wednesday 24 September from 11am – 2pm, at Staunton Country Park (Havant, PO9 5HD).

The Annual Canvass

Households have been sent a Canvass Communication A letter (CCA) or a Canvass Communication B letter (CCB). If you receive a CCA, you will ONLY need to respond if any of the details have changed. If you receive a CCB, you WILL need to respond even if all the details are correct.

Officers from Havant Borough Council will soon be telephoning and visiting households to check whether your details are correct.

If you’d rather not receive a visit, you can still make changes online, by phone 0800 8840701, or by text 80212 using the two-part security code included in the letter. Alternatively, you can complete and return the letter in the post, using the pre-paid envelope provided.

Waterlooville Car Show

Come along to Waterlooville town centre on Saturday 27 September between 10:30am and 3:30pm for a day of family fun!

In collaboration with the Port Solent Car Meet, there'll be a mix of American police cars, classic cars, hot rods, supercars, and many more. There will also be live music for you to enjoy!

Sign up and support a good cause today and not only will you be in with the chance of winning weekly cash prizes of up to £25,000, but if you enter before Saturday 27 September, you will be in with the chance of winning a £1,000 Aldi Gift Card!

Drainage Survey Works

National Highways will soon be undertaking drainage survey works to the A27/A3M westbound on slip road that joins the A27 in Havant.

To undertake these works safely, they will need to close the A27/A3M westbound on slip road that joins the A27 overnight between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

Closure information:

Monday 22 September to Wednesday 19 November (Monday to Friday only)

Diversion:

Traffic will be diverted via the A27 eastbound carriageway to the next junction to turn around and join the A27 westbound carriageway.
