Check out four easy ways to reduce food waste at home:
1️⃣ Write a shopping list – stick to what you need and avoid impulse buys. 2️⃣ Plan your meals – helps you use up what you already have. 3️⃣ Set your fridge to 0–5°C – keeps food fresher for longer. 4️⃣ Buy loose fruit & veg – only get the amount you actually need.

Did you know: biscuit, sweet, and chocolate tins made of metal are recyclable! Just remember to:
✅Remove any plastic film
✅Take out wrappers
✅Clean off food residue
Then pop them in your recycling bin!
✨Or get creative — these tins make great storage containers, handy food transport boxes or even gift boxes for baked goods!

🚫 Cling film can’t be recycled — it belongs in your general waste bin.
But here’s the good news… it’s super easy to switch to reusable alternatives like beeswax wraps, silicone lids, or reusable containers!
Make the swap and cut down on single-use plastic.

♻️ Recycling in Hampshire?
Here's what goes in your home recycling bin:
✅ Paper
✅ Card
✅ Aerosols
✅ Tins & Cans
✅ Plastic Bottles
Remember when in doubt, leave it out!

|
🚫Think before you leave it!
Leaving items next to a full litter bin is Fly-Tipping—and it's illegal.
If the bin is full, please take your items home or find another one. Your waste is your responsibility; make sure it's disposed of correctly!

🧊 Make the most of your freezer and cut down on food waste!
Here are five surprising things you can freeze:
🥚 Eggs – crack into a sealed container and freeze for later use. 🥛 Milk – freeze in ice cube trays for easy portioning. 🌿 Herbs – chop & freeze in ice cube trays with oil or water. 🍋 Citrus slices – freeze lemon/orange slices for smoothies or to chill drinks! 🧀 Cheese – grate before freezing for quick toppings anytime.
Freezing smart = wasting less! ❄️

🥚Don’t let eggs go to waste — test them first!
Not sure if your eggs are still fresh? Try the water test:
💧Place the egg in a glass of water: Sinks & lays flat? Still fresh! Floats? It’s gone off — don’t eat it!
Even eggs past their best before date can still be good to eat.
