Green skills project benefits local businesses
Launched in Summer 2024, a Green Skills upskilling project proved a great success, with 180 qualifications achieved. We partnered with Portsmouth City Council, City of Portsmouth College, and SERT Training to offer free or subsidised courses to support the move to NetZero.
Employees from TVR Electrical Services, a Havant-based business, are just one of the businesses that took up the scheme, stating that the funding enabled more of their engineers to become qualified to install EV chargers giving the business more flexibility with scheduling.
Havant's Link Up Youth Hub shortlisted for two awards
Congratulations to Havant's Link Up Youth Hub for being shortlisted for both The MJ Achievement Awards 2025 in the 'Transforming Lives' category, as well as the LGC Awards 2025 in the 'Economic Development' category.
The judges for The MJ Achievement Awards recognised the significant impact of our Link Up Youth Hub, where our job matching service is successfully tackling youth unemployment and improving access to education and employment for those aged 16-24.
The Youth Hub was also shortlisted for The LGC Awards for the economic impact that the Economic Development Team and the job matching service delivered through the Youth Hub has had across Havant borough which includes includes young people from areas that are in the top 10% deprived locations in the UK. Link Up Youth Hub, which works in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions, has helped nearly 700 16-24-year-olds over the last 3 years, working to reduce barriers to support access into employment and further education.
This service is one that Havant Borough Council is truly proud of and we wish the team luck for June when award winners are announced.

Building a Better Future – Have your say …
Would you like to help us shape the future of Havant borough? Do you have ideas or concerns about our environment, housing or town centres?
Whether you live, work or visit the borough of Havant, now is your chance to view and comment on the Draft Building a Better Future Plan.
This Plan – otherwise known as the Local Plan - sets out how the council will decide, manage and shape development in our borough and includes proposed sites for allocation where development could take place, including which sites are allocated for employment space.
This consultation is live between Tuesday 6 May and Tuesday 1 July 2025.
As a business based within the borough, we would welcome your feedback on what the Local Plan proposes. Your perspective on how the Local Plan approaches the economy, employment, regeneration and infrastructure would be highly valuable in shaping and influencing the final Plan.
To view the Draft Building a Better Future document and to submit your views go to www.havant.gov.uk/localplan.
We are also consulting on the Waterlooville Town Centre Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) – a framework for the regeneration of the town centre - and St. Faith’s Conservation Area Review at the same time via the same online links.

Feed Havant - Take a Can to Work Day
At Havant Rotary, we do understand the pressures that businesses face and that is why rather than asking a business to support us in the traditional way we have developed a way that businesses and their staff can get involved at very little cost to anyone.
We have set up a monthly 'Take a can to work' day where each member of staff is invited to bring one can or item of food to work and we will arrange for it to be collected.
What are the next steps?
1. Contact Havant Rotary by email: info@feedhavant.co.uk or call at 07516 100 585 to get the ball rolling.
2. We normally concentrate on the 17th of each month, but are happy to work with you whenever it suits the business best.
3. Simply get the staff on board by getting them to bring at least one item and call us to arrange collection.
You can choose an individual Food Bank to support or we can distribute it for you.
