Food Waste Action Week 2025

This year, the UK’s biggest annual food waste reduction campaign will run from 17 – 23 March 2025. The mission is simple - we want to get more people across the UK talking about why buying loose fruit and vegetables is better.

Selling items loose (unpackaged), so that people can buy just the amount they need, is an effective way to reduce household food waste.  

Reducing waste for Ramadan

During Ramadan, there is often an increase in the consumption of bottled water, disposable plates, and utensils. Why not consider a low-waste Ramadan? Here are some ideas!

• Use reusable bottles instead of plastic ones
• Use eco-friendly packaging
• Avoid disposable plates and cutlery
• Shop local – support local businesses!

Global Recycling Day 2025

Global Recycling Day helps recognise and celebrate the importance recycling plays in preserving our precious primary resources and securing the future of our planet. It is a day for the world to come together and put the planet first!

Here are a few things you can do to take part: Take part in a community litter pick. Organise a recycled clothes fashion show. Get involved on social media. If you work with children, get them involved – resources can be found on the Global Recycling Day website. Recycle right at home.

Blister pack recycling scheme extends to 800 Boots stores

Waste management company MYGroup and Boots have announced that their in-store blister pack recycling scheme has extended to over 800 stores. The scheme forms a part of the partnership’s wider Recycle at Boots programme which includes other health and beauty packaging.

Customers who take part in the scheme are able to claim Boots Advantage Card loyalty points in exchange for the used blister packs and other products they deposit in-store. This is facilitated by the scheme’s technology partner, Metrisk, through the Recycle at Boots app.

New waste management portal

We recently launched a new waste management portal for customers which allows you to manage your garden waste subscription, view your collection day and to report any missed waste collections. Each customer account on the portal can manage up to three subscriptions at a time.
