Welcome to the October edition of our Recycling Newsletter. Each month we will provide you with hints and tips on how to waste less, and recycle right.

There’s plenty of recycling to be done around Halloween and lots of ways you can reduce the scary amount of waste generated by the fearsome festivities:
|
|
-
Reduce disposable plastics – use real or paper pumpkins, face paint instead of masks, real cutlery, etc.
|
|
Recycle Week runs from 14 -20 October this year, focusing on rescuing recyclable items from heading to the rubbish bin.
Thank you to Boots and Tesco for sponsoring Recycle Week 2024 and supporting RecycleNow’s mission to inspire everyone to rescue those recyclables!

Garden waste - such as grass cuttings, leaves, weeds, and small branches - can be recycled in a garden waste bin. The waste is then taken to composting sites to be processed into soil conditioners and composts.
Current garden waste prices are as follows:
- Standard 240 litre bin - £41.50
- Smaller 140 litre bin – £28.25

|
Only glass bottles and jars can be recycled at glass bottle banks.
Other items - such as fish tanks, picture frames, and glass furniture - should be taken to the household waste recycling centre. Dumping these items into the bottle banks is classed as fly-tipping, and you could be issued a fine of up to £400.
