Havant Borough Council's Economic Development team has collaborated with Hampshire County Council's Skills team to support businesses across Havant access skills support to recruit and upskill current staff. We will be running a drop in session at Waterlooville Basepoint to meet with businesses and give information on the following:
- Recruiting and funding for apprenticeships
- Recruiting through Havant's Job Matching service
- Support for numeracy skills in the workplace through Multiply funding
- Skills Bootcamps to upskill current staff and recruit new starters
- Plus more access to business support and funding opportunities for your business

Green Skills for Business
Havant Borough Council are working in partnership with Portsmouth City Council, City of Portsmouth College and SERT Training to unlock valuable green skills training for local Electricians and Gas Engineers through FREE and subsidised courses. Some of the courses on offer include: Electrical energy storage systems, Solar PV Installation and Air Source Heat Pump training.

Havant and South Downs Business Breakfast
Join HSDC for their first Business Breakfast of the academic year.
Enjoy a FREE delicious breakfast prepared by our catering staff and Apprentices in their fine dining restaurant, 74 South, whilst having the opportunity to network with like-minded local business professionals across a range of sectors.
This month HSDC welcome their guest speaker from Veterans Outreach Support who will be talking about the work the charity does supporting ex-forces personnel living in South East England.

Hampshire County Council's Apprenticeship Support
The Skills & Employment team offers support, guidance, and advice on all aspects of apprenticeships and skills training options. It is a free, impartial resource for organisations in Hampshire.
The team can offer guidance tailored to your organisational needs with expert advisers who can support you in your pursuit of workforce development. They can work with you to create a strategic approach towards adopting apprenticeships and skills into your organisation by identifying skills gaps, establishing the most relevant apprenticeship or skills training courses, utilising available funding and building a vision for the future of skills development in your workforce.
The team can also offer support to organisations who don’t pay the apprenticeship levy to access levy transfers from HCC Apprenticeship surplus levy funds.

Refugee Employment Network (REN)
The Refugee Employment Network (REN) brings together non-profits, local authorities and businesses to ensure refugees in the UK have access to paid work or self-employment opportunities. Founded in 2019, the organisation is the only national membership network in the UK exclusively focused on creating better opportunities for refugees across the whole country.
REN have provided business support links to enable recruitment professionals to access this untapped talent pool. Please use the links below to find information on hiring and supporting refugees in the workplace.

Solent Partners and Havant and South Downs College's Software Development Bootcamp
Solent Partners and HSDC have partnered to launch the new Software Development Skills Bootcamp available to businesses, start ups and individuals seeking employment.
The Skills Bootcamp is available to those 19+ and is a low or no cost option for upskilling staff in coding, website design, programming and app development.
The Level 3 course will run over a 16-week period with sessions delivered two evenings a week, predominantly virtually.
