A new boardwalk has now been completed at Chichester Avenue, Hayling Island, allowing people with disabilities, and parents with pushchairs, better access to the seafront.
Following consultation with disabled residents, the need to restore the previous failing boardwalk was highlighted as a priority.
The new structure, made using modern all-weather composite materials, is 3m wide and 50m long. It includes handrails and a wider platform to allow pedestrians to pass each other and to allow better access for people with additional mobility needs. A generous seating area with tables and benches has also been added so visitors can enjoy the amazing natural vistas.

Havant Borough Council is taking another step forward in its plans to breathe new life into Waterlooville.
Eight new independent and small businesses have been awarded a share of £140,000 to support them in bringing a range of services, entertainment, and wellness establishments to the town centre.
A role-play café for children, bike repairs, and an all-day modern and vibrant establishment serving food and entertainment are all part of the agreed vacant shop scheme.

Batteries (household batteries and those within vapes) contain hazardous substances, so it’s important to dispose of them properly.
Disposing of used batteries properly is as simple as bagging them up to take on your next shopping trip. Any retailer or supermarket that sells batteries should take them back for recycling.
There may also be recycling points in your local school, offices, and businesses.
