Welcome to the June Business Newsletter from Havant Borough Council's Economic Development Team.
We are looking forward to welcoming businesses to the next Havant Business Partnership. The event focuses on supporting local businesses to network and meet with like-minded professionals, whilst hosting a range of business support professionals to meet your needs.
The event will take place on Thursday 11th July from 09:30-11:00 with the location to be confirmed.

We would like to invite you to take part in a short survey through the University of Portsmouth to assess the sense of connection with other businesses, schools and 16-24 year olds, before the launch of the new Central Hub LinkedIn page by Havant Borough Council. The LinkedIn page aims to meet the needs of businesses and schools to connect, serving as an online venue for sharing information about recruitment, networking, business support, and understanding the career goals of young people.

The Department for Business and Trade have launched the Help to Grow: Management Essentials course, a new free online course with practical tips and resources for small businesses. |
Through a series of practical, bite-sized videos and supporting resources, you will explore how to think more strategically about your business, your target market and your go-to-market strategy.
The course is suited for leaders of newer or smaller SMEs, or those who are looking to explore the principles of business growth and management.
Incuhive Business Support for Start Up and Small Businesses
Havant Borough Council have commissioned Incuhive to offer free support to businesses looking to grow or start-up across the Borough.

The support from Incuhive includes:
- Funding and finance
- Marketing and social media
- Business planning and/or adapting current plans
- Cashflow

Skills Bootcamps to Upskill Employees
Skills Bootcamps empower individuals and employers to develop valuable, sector-specific skills. Based on local employer demand, the Skills Bootcamps on offer provide a direct path to employment upon completion, with a guaranteed job interview at the end of each course for unemployed individuals.
These funded courses are flexible and include minimum hours of learning across a maximum 16-week period, providing learners with several positive outcomes no matter their circumstances.
Residents aged 19 and over that live in Hampshire are eligible. You can be in full-time or part-time employment, self-employed, unemployed, or returning to work after a break.
All Skills Bootcamps learners are offered support upon completion of their course to progress within their chosen field. Support offered includes CV review, pastoral support, coaching and mentoring.
Managed locally across Hampshire by Skills and Employment, Skills Bootcamps is the flagship programme of the Department for Education as part of the Skills for Life movement.

Childcare Recruitment Opportunity
Itchen College will be delivering a Skills Bootcamp focused on upskilling individuals to become ready to work in childcare settings. The boot camp will focus on a variety of skills to prepare for the sector including:
- Early Years Foundation Stage and child centred learning
- Child development
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Equality and diversity
- Health and safety
Those studying on the course will also gain qualifications in paediatric first aid and food safety.

Free AI Upskilling Fund Pilot Scheme
The Government is providing support to SMEs in the Professional and Business Services Sector by match-funding AI skills training for their employees.
The funding is now open for applications and the link below provides the form and guidance to make your application.

Horizon Corporate Membership
Horizon's corporate membership can be set up for large or small businesses and includes use of both our Havant and Waterlooville centres.
Included in the membership is use of the gym, swimming pools and over 150 exercise classes, plus the creche.
The Gyms boast more than 160 work stations including well known cardio equipment and a large range of resistance equipment, plus a superb selection of free weights. Our gyms are fully staffed who are on hand to orientate members with equipment and offer support and guidance.
