Havant Reservoir Recruitment Day

Date: 10th April 2024

Time: 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Front Lawn Community Hub, Somborne Drive, Havant, PO9 5AN

All you need to bring with you is:
• Your passport or birth certificate (and share code if applicable) for a right to work check
• Any CPCS/NPORS cards you may have (if applying for an Excavator, Dozer or ADT role)
• Your driving licence (if you have one)

Positions Available:

Fixed Term - Trainee Plant Operatives

• No previous qualifications required
• Ages 18 and over
• We will train you on plant equipment
• You will gain a CPCS red trained operator card on 2 of the following plant equipment's: Roller, Forward Tipping Dumper, Tractor.

Fixed Term - Excavator & Dozer Operatives

• CPCS or NPORS qualification required
• GPS experience necessary
• Lifting ops required
• Must be competent

CIS Contracts - ADT Operatives

• CPCS or NPORS qualification required

• Do not have a full Level 2 qualification
• In receipt of Income Support or Universal Credit
• Families with school age children in receipt of free school meals
• Have a learning difficulty and/or disability
• Who are at risk of/have mental health needs
• Earn less than £20,319 annual gross salary
• Have refugee status

Course: Life Saving Skills for Wellbeing - Emergency First Aid at Work

Course dates:

11th April 09:00-17:00

Training:

WHAT IS COVERED:
• Understand their roles and responsibilities as a first-aider
• Be able to manage an incident
• Know how to look after an unconscious casualty
• Be able to perform CPR and use an AED safely
• Control bleeding and treat for hypovolaemic shock
• Treat burns effectively
• Keep meaningful records of illness and injury

COURSE ELIGIBILITY:
This course is being offered free with the funding we receive from Hampshire Learns to adults (19+) whose home address is in Hampshire and who can meet one of the following criteria:

Course: Employability Skills and Confidence Building 

Date: Friday 26th April, 3rd, 10th and 17th May 2024

Course: 

This course will help to support each individual with the skills and confidence they need to explore finding a range of employment opportunities, as well as exploring roles within the voluntary sector by identifying their ‘dream’ field of employment. With the guidance and support of the employment tutor, they will learn how to search and apply for jobs by direct targeting the employer, how to write a successful CV and covering letter, as well as building on their personal skills to improve their mental output and long-term thinking patterns.

• List at least 5 personal transferable skills that employers are seeking
• Practice breathing and grounding techniques, as well as mindfulness activities, to establish a calm demeanour before, during and after interview

• Identify your ‘Super Skills’ – why are they transferable!
• Identify the importance of essential and desirable skills in employment – you have more than you realise!
• Identify direct targeting of employers and how to find adverts for your dream employment opportunity
• Describe the importance of effective communication skills (verbal & non-verbal)
• Create an accessible and relevant CV and covering letter
• Demonstrate how to send business correspondence to employers
• Identify and select professional dress for employment types
• Be able to list the benefits of good personal care and presentation

Who is this course for: For anyone looking to boost their levels of confidence and gain vital skills in being able to progress into employment (part time or full time), through practical interview skills and understanding your ‘Super Skill Set’.  Everyone is welcome!

Based in Front Lawn Community Hub, Havant Youth Hub supports young people to achieve their next step towards employment through CV writing, job applications, confidence building, health and wellbeing, group sessions and training.

SERT - Retrofit Training Course Electrical Programme: 9-10 days, Monday – Friday in our Electrical Training Centre PO15 7AL. Developing qualifications 18th Edition and Domestic Electrical Installer. A perfect course to test the waters for a career as an electrician developing both practical skills and theoretical understanding. Following completion of this course, we will be setting up interviews with local employers to explore potential next steps for successful learners. With recognised prior learning learners are attractive to employers but cannot make any employment guarantees.   Retrofit Advisor: Up to 16 weeks of online training and assessments including a live session. Developing Level 2 Award in Understanding Domestic Retrofit and Level 3 Award in Domestic Retrofit Advice. This course is perfect for people looking to advise homeowners on energy savings or join a sales team working in the renewable sectors.

Improving Your Digital Skills and Cyber Security Knowledge - 15^th April to 26^th April  9.30-2.45pm

Find out about essential digital skills by engaging with digital services and products used in everyday life by handling information, creating and editing and communicating.  This course will also cover cybercrime and the risks and effects it has on individuals and organisations. Give an understanding of routine protective methods used to maintain cybersecurity including the principles of vulnerability and penetration testing and user access control and how to be safe and responsible online.

Feeling Good About Your Wellbeing -  15^th April to 17^th April 9.30-2.45pm

Do you have an interest in developing knowledge of your own and others’ well-being?  This course explores the topics of stress management, mental health, healthy eating and alcohol awareness.

Looking at Personal Money Management -  18^th April to 19^th April 9.30-2.45pm

This course is designed to help learners understand and make the most of their personal finances by gaining a better understanding of personal finance and the products and services which can positively and negatively affect it.
