Information on support with the cost of living

As we head into 2024, we understand residents may be concerned about the cost of living. The 'cost of living' webpages have been put together to provide information and useful links to a range of different agencies which may be able to help those needing further support.

Whether you’re worried about loan repayments and want to know where to get financial support or legal advice, want to know more about the support available for food provision or need information about housing, we hope the below information is helpful.

Free energy efficiency upgrades

The Home Upgrade Grant is a government scheme to improve energy efficiency of vulnerable and low-income households that do not have gas central heating.

Eligible households can apply to the scheme and receive free measures that could save hundreds of pounds per year, including insulation, air source heat pumps, and solar panels.

Have your say on proposals for future services in Hampshire

Hampshire County Council has launched an important public consultation, inviting people to provide their views on the future of some local services in Hampshire to help meet a £132 million budget shortfall by April 2025.

The consultation will until 11:59pm on 31 March 2024. 

New Year bin collections 

Battery recycling

If your children were lucky enough to receive any battery operated toys from Santa this Christmas, please remember to recycle the batteries correctly.

Many batteries – including rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries – are small, and can also be found in household items including toys, toothbrushes, phones, e-cigarettes and laptops.

Batteries placed into your rubbish bin could be crushed or punctured, causing them to ignite or even explode! It's a huge risk for those who collect and deal with your rubbish, so please help to keep everyone safe. Dispose of your batteries correctly. 

We’re asking residents to dispose of their used batteries responsibly by placing them in designated battery recycling bins. These can be found at Household Waste Recycling Centres, or in most supermarkets.

New year, new active challenge

As we begin a new year, you might want to consider taking up a fresh challenge or just try something different. 

Get Up and Go provides a range of programmes to suit all ages and abilities. Why not try Badminton, Boxing, Pilates or swimming. There are lots of different activities.

Join the Festival of Ideas for Waterlooville Town Centre Masterplan

The next stage of engagement for Waterlooville is coming to the town centre from 22 January.

The Festival of Ideas will be four days of interactive workshops and activities that will take place between 9:30am and 9pm, giving everyone an opportunity to share ideas on themes such as living, leisure and retail to help shape the future of the town centre.
